Nocturne

Long into the evening, the scholar sat within his study, thumbing through the yellowed pages of an ancient volume. There, upon an old and weather-stained map, he discovered a curious mark—one which he recognized as belonging to the darkened wood beyond his cottage. Rising to the window, he gazed into the night and beheld, amongst the distant trees, a strange and unearthly light.
